Week 1 - The Zoetrope
For week one, I started out a little ambitious by animating a full walk cycle. It consists of 12 frames and was done on iPad Pro in ProCreate. It took me about 2 days to fully complete it, mostly working in shorter bursts between other classes.
The cat's design was based off of this little sticky-note doodle. I thought the simple blocky shape of his head would translate pretty easily into a full animation. The body was designed with his head shape in mind. Originally, I hadn't decided what kind of tail to give him, so I just went ahead and just animated his body. I played around with different tail shapes and lengths, but ultimately decided to go with the short fluffy one. I found it was the one I could animate the most consistently.
I started by drawing the keyframes, and then went back and drew the in-betweens to make it a full 12 frames. I have never animated a walk cycle before, so reference was incredibly helpful. I went through this video frame by frame to find the key poses and overall movement.
