Walk Cycles

I did this first cycle as a test, just to get the basic motion of it. It's less than 12 frames, but I felt that I understood the walk movement well enough to start playing with it.

The top one was done in reference to one of the examples within the lecture video. The bottom one was done without reference. I wanted to try and make a very loose, cartoony walk. After all of those sketches, I decided to try my hand at a more finished, colored walk cycle. Using a simplified version of one of my own personal characters, I started with a very loose sketch of her body. After I had the base, I duplicated it so that I could mess around with the secondary actions (hair, shirt, sword) without messing up what I already had. I repeated this for the line work, and then again for the color.

I'm very proud of how this one came out! I have a habit of leaving my work at just the sketch, so I'm glad I pushed myself to fully line and color one of my animations.
